Connect Apple TV to IVPN
Use IVPN on Apple TV with a WireGuard configuration file. Generate it in your IVPN account, send it to the TV with WaveSocket and connect.

You need an active IVPN Standard, Plus or Pro Suite account, an Apple TV with the WaveSocket app and a phone or computer on the same network as the TV. IVPN states that it does not offer an Apple TV app. Its WireGuard configuration generator creates standard files for other WireGuard clients, and WaveSocket imports standard WireGuard files.
IVPN allows five devices on the Standard and Plus plans and 10 on Pro Suite.
Create the configuration
These steps follow IVPN’s WireGuard setup guide.
- Sign in to your IVPN account. Under IVPN Setup, select the WireGuard setup page link, then Configuration file generator. You can also open the configuration file generator directly.
- Enter a key comment such as Apple TV if you like, keep Enable quantum-resistant connection selected and select Generate key.
- Choose Single-Hop or Multi-Hop and select an exit server location. For Multi-Hop, also select an entry server location.
- Under Configuration, choose the tunnel traffic (IPv4, IPv6 or both) and the DNS setting. Single-Hop configurations also let you choose the port.
- Select Download zip archive and extract it on your phone or computer.
The archive holds one .conf file for each server that matches your choice. If you chose only a country or city, it can contain several. Pick the file for the server you want on Apple TV.
Import on Apple TV
- On Apple TV, open WaveSocket and choose Profiles → Add VPN profile → Upload from your browser, then select Start upload session. If a VPN is connected, disconnect first.
- On the phone or computer with the file, scan the QR code on the TV or open the address shown. Enter the code shown on the TV in the 4-digit code field.
- Select Choose file, pick the
.conffile and select Send to Apple TV. - Review the profile on Apple TV. Choose Rename to give it a clear name such as IVPN Zurich, then choose Save profile.
Use a trusted home network for this step. The import guide explains the transfer and the other import methods.
Connect and check
WaveSocket selects the saved profile and opens Connection. Choose Connect. The first time, allow Apple TV to add the VPN configuration. Look for Server verified and a recent time next to Oldest peer handshake age.
Every WaveSocket feature is free for three minutes per connection, so you can try your IVPN setup before choosing WaveSocket’s Lifetime access, which removes the time limit.
Locations and app features
- To use another server, import its file as a separate profile: disconnect, start a new upload session and save it. To switch later, disconnect, open the other profile in Profiles and choose Use profile.
- If you chose AntiTracker as the DNS setting, check in Edit profile that Advanced DNS is still set to Use profile DNS (the default), so WaveSocket keeps using the AntiTracker DNS servers from the file.
- Enable quantum-resistant connection adds a
PresharedKeyline to the file. Do not remove it before importing. - Automatic key rotation, the IVPN firewall and V2Ray obfuscation are features of IVPN’s apps, not of a configuration file.
If it does not connect
- Check that your IVPN account is still active.
- On a restrictive network, create a Single-Hop configuration with another port. IVPN offers several WireGuard ports for this.
- Check IVPN’s server status page. Next to each server, a green dot means online, yellow means maintenance and red means offline. If your server’s dot is not green, create a configuration for another server.
- If you deleted the key in your account, create a new configuration.
Then follow the order of checks in connection troubleshooting.
These steps are based on IVPN’s published documentation as checked on 16 October 2026, not on WaveSocket’s own testing with IVPN. Labels in your IVPN account can change; if they do, follow IVPN’s current help pages. IVPN is a trademark of its owner. WaveSocket is an independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by IVPN.
